The screens make it possible to come close or closely to the flame (photo 1, 2) and even pass through it (photo 3, 4). The screens provide a silhouette visibility of flame through mesh panels, which allow one to observe the situation in the combustion zone (photo 5, 6). The screens can operate over a long period (practically without limit) under the attack of heat radiation and flame. Owing to this their use removes restrictions on the residence time of people and equipment in the zone of fire. In order for the screens to operate, water at an operating pressure is fed to that from a fire line or using fire trucks from a fire tank or an open reservoir.

The screens attenuate the heat radiation by no less than 40 times.

Said degree of attenuation of heat radiation is guaranteed on exposure to the heat radiation (the heat flow) with a density

up to 60 kilowatt per square meter.

Allowlable time of attack of heat radiation on the screens is not limited.

Operating pressure of water (the pressure of water, which is fed to the screens) is 0.4-0.6 MPa.

Rate of flow at the operating pressure of 0.4 MPa, which provide said degree attenuation of heat radiation, is 0.3-0.5 liters

per second depanding on the type of screen.
